Weekend

So it’s once again a weekend. It’s saturday but for some reason I’m not as relaxed as usual. I wrote a little on my internship report but I’m lazy. I first have to hand it in in April 2007, and when there’s no pressure on me, I’m bad at anticipating. Unfortunatelly.

I also wanted to work on a Powerpoint presentation I have to hold at work sometime before christmas, but right now I’m just NOT IN THE MOOD. Argh!

I bought some christmas lights yesterday and put them around my bookshelf ๐Ÿ™‚ I also have a lighted star and moon hanging from my curtain rail, it looks very pretty and soo romantic. Damn that I’m sleeping at my lovers place tonight, seeing we’re going to do laundry. (We always wash at his place, seeing it’s cheaper than at my place)

Actually I thought of buying a plastic christmas tree (the American in me), but it cost 20 Euros and also the ornaments are so damn expensive. So I didn’t buy one. Also if I’m working now and earning money I don’t want to spend 100 Euros or so on christmas decorations.

For christmas, my family and I do a “secret santa” sort of thing. We write our names on papers and everybody has to pick a name and the others don’t know which one the other family members picked (whoooo! FUN!! hehe :P). I picked my sister and I already got her the perfect present. I found a site online which creates a Memory of pictures you send them. So I took 25 pictures of my sisters, parents, my sisters son and hubby and created 25 nice looking pictures. I can’t wait to see how the Memory looks like. I thought that was an exotic present ๐Ÿ™‚ I also ordered a calendar for the bubby with pictures including me and him. You don’t hang that one, no, it’s standing and it’s black and silver. Very exotic and different as well. Once I’ll get my purchases I’ll take pictures and post them.

Work is fine, very busy but good. I have to create a powerpoint about the Software I tested and have to present it to different companies. In ENGLISH! I’m very nervous, seeing I don’t have the technical language of remote sensing. Especially not in English. Aah!

  1. Aww, those sound like really sweet presents. I love how sentimental they are, hehe. I can’t wait to see what they look like. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck on working on your Powerpoint presentation. Get working on that, missy!

  2. Really awesome present, I love your creative side ๐Ÿ˜› Don’t worry about the presentation (although I don’t blame you) you are a smart girl and will do fine! Good luck though ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. wow you’re buying your family relaly exclusive gifts! they sounds really awesome… and i so LOVE christmas lights.. i think i will put them up in our boring boring office as well.

  4. Haha, I guess I can be glad that my American half hasn’t inherited the “kitsch”-gene ๐Ÿ˜› I pretty much dislike Xmas, and I’d never ever want to decorate my place for any kind of occasion. But I do, in fact, have a flag hanging on my balcony. A Jolly Roger. ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Hey,

  6. Canadians don’t like Christmas…I’ve asked some Canadians if they have Christmas music and they just told me that I should go to the next mall …
But at least my roomies decorated our little plastic Christmas tree (1m) which was behind our fireplace the whole year.
    I love Christmaskitsch ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. i didnt know that fake trees was an american thing, i always had a fake one. we did the real one only a couple of times when i lived with my parents but it always ended up dying after the holidays and we were so sad lol so we didn’t buy it again. 20 euros for a fake tree is not that bad really, if it is big. mine costed 15 or 20 maybe two years ago. and yes decorations are expensive but once you buy them you have them for the life hehe ๐Ÿ˜‰

  8. For Christmas ornaments (and maybe plastic Christmas trees as well) you should check out discount stores. Usually things like that are relatively cheap there.

I moved out in April and I had to buy all my Christmas stuff for this year, I went into a discount store and chose some nice ornaments. I think it cost me less than 20 euros for everything (excluding the tree, as that was a gift from a colleague). But if I had to by the tree as well it would have been another 3 euros. I saw a fake one for 3-7.5 euros here, so maybe they have things like that over there as well!

  9. Ooh, Secret Santa. I’m sad, my old team here at work was supposed to do a Secret Santa, but we got dissolved. I dont know if we’re pushing through with it now.
